say that ‘equality of opportunity’ is more important that ‘equalityof wealth’ and is the only social initiative that the government shouldsupport. Now wait! Let’s think about this a bit.

If you are rich and you have children you love, aren’t yougoing to do everything that you can to get them into the best schools and fromthere into the best jobs? Is having alot of money going to get in the way of that effort? Are you going to ask your children to get tothe back of the line because their GPA is too low? Are the schools in the district you live in going to be worsethan the schools where poor blacks live? Answer: NO!

Being rich means you live in a rich neighborhood which hasthe property tax resources to buy the best education a state system can provide. And if that’s not good enough, the rich cankeep their kids in private school from nursery to graduate school. No one is making any argument that this isnot true. Anyone out there like to argue that this is false?

Let’s get this completely clear! The rich automatically have more opportunitythan the poor, because (under capitalism---i like to call it kraptialism, because it's mostly crap or krap, if you add the kleptocracy) more money can buy more (and better) stuff than lessmoney. The amount of money you can spendon something is directly proportional to the amount and quality of thatsomething you get! MONEY is the mostimportant thing to have in this society. Money is key to the quality of prenatal care you get, the quality of justice you get, the quality of medical care you get, the quality of education you get, the car you drive, the house youlive in, and (closing the loop) the quality of neighborhood you live in. Anyone out there like to argue that this is false?

Therefore: MONEY IS OPPORTUNITY!

If you don’t think so, then what else provides you with moreopportunity? Intelligence? Morality? Knowledge? Who is the majority atthe top of GOVCORP? The wealthy or theintelligent? The rich or thepoor? Look at congress for an answer tothat question!

Those with the least amount of wealth are the welfare poor.(see underclass) Wealth accumulation for this classis to some extent prohibited. People that receive AFDC transfers cannot own more than atrivial amount of assets, in order to be eligible and remain qualified forincome transfers. Most of the institutions that the welfare poor encounterdiscourage any accumulation of assets.

There you have it. The members of the lower class are deliberately kept in that class(maybe for some twisted crap religious belief that the poor will always be amongst us...orwhatever).

So, if you understand all of the above, then you can clearly seethat there will never be equality of opportunity without wealth equality! Everything you’ll hear from theconservatives, on this subject, will try to deny that money isopportunity. They look really stupid(i.e., they look like what they are) trying to make this argument in the face ofall of history. Where in history hasmoney or wealth of some kind or the other not provided more food, more power, morehealth, and most importantly, more leisure?

Power Jobs for the Millions

I was just listening to a piece on The Thames Festival onNPR. It suggested a whole newindustry:

Human power generation!

The idea is to setup a series of ‘gyms’ where the stationary bikes, rowingmachines, and walkers are fitted to generate electricity. A new technology of combining exercise withenergy!

With enough participation we should be able to dump nukes,avoid trashing Anwar, and eliminate obesity.

The ‘generators’ can be paid a decent wage for the amount ofpower they generate. No particularamount of time generating or amount of power generated would be required. Unions could get involved in negotiatingwages for units of power and other benefits. I would think that all generators would get the same wage for unit ofproduction so no wage discrimination would be possible.

Human power generation could be the key component of acompletely green power grid, what I call: ‘The Green Grid’, i.e., solar, wind, hydro, bio, and human.

Fitness and Power Unite!

This job obviously doesn’t require 'higher education' or socialconnections. No teamwork is required. Human power generation will spawn off manyjobs in equipment design and maintenance. Food service and facility maintenance jobs would also be created.

So, here’re the jobs O’bama’s been looking for! Jobs for the millions! If we combine Human Power with a drastic upscale in solar power, we could employ every man, woman, and teenager in thecountry wanting work in clean jobs in a healthy environment.

This idea is probably not new, but it is the first time i've heard it suggested as a way of eliminating thecurrent depression. Let’s hope O takesup the torch.

The American Declaration of Independence & Constitution of the United States Or Remember Tulsa

I’ve been listening to a lot of right wing radio of late and one of their most enduring tropes is that American Exceptionalism is due to the American Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. So, I decided to have yet another look at these two documents. And lo and behold, I discovered something new to me, a completely fresh way of looking at these documents:

THESE DOCUMENTS AREN’T WORTH THE HEMP THEY’RE WRITTEN ON!

Why, you might ask?

Because there’s not one line in either of these two pieces of ‘handi wipes’ redressing the ongoing crime of GENOCIDE against Native Americans (NAs) that the landed white gentry writing the documents was committing! (Of course I’m fully aware that one might not want to admit to genocide before the whole world at the same time you’re starting up a country, but what I really think is the issue is that the ‘founding fathers’ didn’t really think about it all that much! They gave more thought to their slaves than they did to ‘Indians’—especially round evening time.)

Further, the Rube Goldberg government set forth in the constitution is nothing but a recipe for stalemate and compromise, given a population divided into two irreconcilable groups as it was over the issue of slavery and much later over the issues of civil-rights, worker’s right, women’s rights, the environment, abortion, and chemical recreation. Neither of these documents had enough of anything to keep the country from going to war with itself over slavery. (Or, was it property rights?)

Neither of these two documents was able to stop the whites from imprisoning Indians in reservations on their own land. (Oh, by 2009 there was this little thing:

If you read the newspapers you see that the only people to which the, so called, Bill of Rights, is applied only to the white sons and daughters of the amerikan revolution!

Everyone of the amendments in the, so called, Bill of Rights was violated or ignored:

under the Jim Crow laws;

when it came to fighting against Bolshevik inspired ‘civil rights’ in the 1960s;

when it came to beating down those long haired free loving dope smoking hippies in the late 1960s;

when it came to beating down those who fought to end ‘the draft’ and the Vietnam war!

Everyone of the amendments in the, so called, Bill of Rights is violated or ignored when it comes to fighting, the so called, ‘The War on Drugs’ and ‘Islamic Radicalism’ in black communities through out amerika today.

Nah, crap! The American Declaration of Independence & Constitution of the United States were documents written of, by, and for white landed MEN of the 18^th century in the rebellious colonies of England against their counterparts in England. The war that ensued between these parties was simply a war to see who would take the Native Americans’ land and trash it for minerals and drug (tobacco) production.

Obama promised us a picture of the bullet riddled head of Osama bin Landen. Did he think such a picture would be proof of the death of bin Laden? Hard to say. Obama rescinded the offer almost immediately after he made it. Obama may be the smartest guy in the White House since Richard Nixxon.

However, for the rest of us (of ordinary endowments) living in the age of Photoshop, a picture is no proof of anything. The same, of course, goes for sound recordings, film, video, and any other medium of communication. As far as testimonials go, they’ve been known to be completely worthless ever since people became aware of how the repetition of a story by different story tellers becomes ever more altered on each telling.

If Obama threw Osama into the sea, then the least ‘fakeable’ artifact, that could have been used to prove that the SEAL mission took place in the (ever changing) way the official narrative describes, has been lost.

That being the case: nobody’s description of events is any more credible than anybody else’s! (Don’t ask me to trust you, I don’t even know you.)

Further, explanations coming from the military and the intelligence communities are the LEAST credible as these communities are trained, sworn, and very well paid to cover up the ‘reality’ of all sorts of events and situations and things. Their very raison d’être rules out their ever giving a complete and truthful account of any efforts they undertake. Then, there’s the matter of ‘psychological warfare’ or ‘psyops’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_warfare). And last, but not least, information in the intel communities is ‘compartmented’ (on a ‘need to know’ basis) so that nobody but a handful of ‘people’ at the tops of the various agencies and contracting corporations know ‘the whole story’ (so that they may be able to manipulate—for a time—our general understanding history). I almost wrote, “our common understanding of history”, until I realized (a second later) that the mil-intel-corporate community’s understanding of history is replete with testimonials of their efforts and actions (including ‘counter-intelligence’ and 'psyops') while the history known to those outside of that community has those testimonials redacted!

So, here we all are. All of us, freed from the truth by the secrecy and lies of our, so called, leaders!

(Oh, by the way, never let anyone in the mil-intel-police-corporate community put you ‘on the line’ to ‘tell the truth’. What could that even mean in their world where they manufacture ‘the truth’ as part of their secret business! Compelling us to ‘tell the truth’ is just a form of intimidation or ‘sick kicks’! Just remember: whatever you think ‘the truth’ is, it is probably something else and the mil-intel-police-corporate community can make anything they want out of what you think! I find it absolutely non-credible that the CIA, NSA, and Mil Intel would go to all the trouble and effort they assert they put into finding Osama (including moving in next door) just to kill Osama!

Could the president and the mil-intel ‘leadership’ be so STUPID as to ORDER a kill for the one guy who could: (a) explain what Al-Qaeda is currently ‘cooking up’, (b) describe Al-Qaeda’s whole communications network, (c) describe all of the ‘up and coming’ talent that’s been recruited over that last few years, (d) explain how he and his associates pulled off 911, and LAST BUT NOT LEAST: (e) explain the relationship between Al-Qaeda and Pakistan’s ISI (especially since we seem to be itching to go to war with Pakistan over this question)?

Now, let’s say the president and the mil-intel ‘leadership’ weren’t so stupid and ordered the CIA/SEAL team to capture Osama. Then the question becomes: was Team 6 (or whoever) so incompetent that they FUBAR’d the mission and killed Osama (and the wife he threw at them)? And, if the CIA/SEAL team FUBAR’d the mission, wouldn’t they cover it up? And even if they didn’t, wouldn’t the so called, leaders, cover it up?

So, PrezO, which is it? You or Team whoever? Or both? Is it stupidity or just incompetence requiring a cover up?

It would be contradictory to ask you to ‘tell the truth’, given what I wrote above. So, I’ll just leave things at this question.

Osama simply got tired of being sidelined and imprisoned by his associates, who had turned against him, and rejected his suggestions for future operations. What To Do With The Massive Surplus Of The John Borrow Economic Plan

The economic plan I have proposed (unlike the Paul Ryan plan) will start to generate projected surpluses within two tax cycles given the effects of its twin deficit reduction engines: across the board equal cuts and revenue enhancement. Remember: how much every governmental activity gets cut each round and how often the cutting rounds occur will be up to the President and the Congress. Also, shuffling the funding of various government programs between each round of cuts could be done to keep some marginally funded programs from being completely eliminated in the early rounds of cutting. This provides the ‘scalpel’ Obama wants to wield instead of a scythe. I prefer the scythe metaphor. Nothing stops the sweep of the scythe except reaching the desired deficit level! Every round, every program spends less. Every round, more revenue is brought in by increases in taxation and inclusion of higher income brackets into Social Security.

So, what to do with the increased revenues?

It wouldn’t make much sense to plow them right back into programs that are just going to get cut at some point. The thing to do with these funds is: form a rock solid ultra stable bank! Let’s call it: The First National Federal Bank of America (FNFBA). (Note, no ‘k’ in Amerika this time. Why? Because the FNFBA cuts the kleptomania out of the banking!)

The FNFBA would be its own Glass-Stiegel Act < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass-Steagall_Act > and be completely isolated from Wall Street. No loans would be issued to support Wall Street trading. It could not be bought or sold by law. Its board and executives would consist of government employees on the GS schedule, so there would be no excessive salaries and NO BONUSES whatsoever. The FNFBA would be a peoples’ bank, not a bank to support corporate shenanigans! It would provide savings accounts, checking accounts, retirement annuities, mortgages, education loans, personal loans, and loans to non-profit community efforts like medical service collectives and non-profit community hospitals. It would not charge ridiculous fees for overdrafts or late payments as do ALL commercial banks. It would not charge ridiculous interest rates for loans at the same time it ‘stiffs’ its savers on savings interest rates, like ALL commercial banks! It would not provide credit cards. It would NOT provide services to shelter the rich man’s money from taxation!

The money flowing into the FNFBA would be enormous and quickly overtake all commercial banks. And when the commercial banks fail on the next round of corporate executive frauds, the FNFBA will be unaffected, except for the influx of money to escape corporate bank ‘failures’. The FNFBA would be the cornerstone of a solid new middle class. Its motto could be something like:

“No rich, No poor. Just a solid middle class for

America

!”

The FNFBA would be ‘green’ and a good neighbor, in every community it served, by providing ‘solid middle class wage jobs’ to all employees. It would employee thousands of people nationwide and participate in collective bargaining with its workers. A place for our money, safe and sound. What do you think, America?

How to Reduce the U.S. Budget Deficit After The Economy Has Been Sacked By Texas Oilmen and Wall Street Bankers

One way to get out of a mortgage that’s ‘underwater’ is to burn the mortgaged house to the ground. However, even if you don’t end up in jail, you end up with nowhere to live and you run the risk of burning out your neighbors as well. On top of that, you’ll still end up owing the money because a mortgage is a contract with a bank, not a house. Burning your house to the ground is exactly what trying to balance the national deficit by cuts alone is! (Maybe a better metaphor is: taking an axe to a great sequoia tree.) Trying to balance the national budget deficit < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deficit > by cutting without raising revenue is a fool’s errand because there’s not enough to cut without creating an army of very poor very sick and homeless people without a future! It is quite likely such cuts could cause an immediate ‘double dip recession’ like that when FDR was cowed into cutting spending < http://open.salon.com/blog/steve_klingaman/2010/03/03/double_dip_will_we_repeat_1937 >.

The way to reduce (or even eliminate) the deficit is ‘balance’! Let me show you how.

The ‘balance’ which I’m suggesting, involves balancing cuts with revenue raising. There are four parts.

First, the cost of everything thing the federal government spends our taxes on must be laid out in plain sight. Where these things involve activities the government just can’t stand to show the world, these costs can be itemized under code names. However, if the government cannot be honest about how much it actually spends on secret endeavors, then the whole effort fails at the start and the economy is simply on its way to collapse.

Second, every field of economic activity in our society must be scrutinized to see where revenue can be raised without hurting the general public or economy. This scrutiny should result in a range of quantitative models which can be simulated to show various cuts balanced with new taxation would affect the economy.

Third, cutting by the rounds: For a number of rounds, a cut amount is decided and applied to every activity and expenditure currently performed by the government. No program is exempt and every program takes the same ‘hit’! (This eliminates the politicking and posturing.) Again, if this can’t be done honestly and forthrightly, then the whole effort fails.

Fourth, for each round, after cutting all government projects by a chosen amount, a tax equal to the amount of the cut is applied to a range of economic activities or transactions. Let’s say we decide to cut a $1 million from every program or agency in the government at round 1. Then a $1 million tax increase is distributed over everything from payrolls to stock market transactions to estate taxes to executive pay and bonuses and tax loopholes and corporate taxes. No income generator is spared. (After a certain number of rounds, tax loopholes simply evaporate.)

Fifth, repeat First-Fourth until the deficit reduction target is obtained.

This is balanced deficit reduction! Cuts across all government programs are balanced against each other so that no part of the government is favored. And then the cuts are balanced with increases in revenue so that neither cuts nor increases in revenue are favored.

This approach provides two engines working in parallel to perturb the economic dynamical system. The goal is to alter the trajectory the system is on until it wanders into a volume of phase space where it can orbit in a sustainable way that benefits the whole American population rather than a few against many as plans, such as the Paul Ryan economic plan <http://open.salon.com/blog/paul_j_orourke/2011/04/08/paul_ryan_young_gun_--_same_old_bullets , http://www.economist.com/blogs/freeexchange/2011/04/americas_budget> does by reducing the deficit by cutting only those things that poor and working class Americans (i.e., the politically powerless) depend upon.

This balanced approach will also quickly put the brakes on all the reckless arbitrariness in cutting as some project or program ‘dear and near’ to everyone will be cut on each round of cuts.

I hope President Obama reads this (or hears about it from one of his aids) and requires a rigorous technical implementation of this plan. What has been missing from the budgetary process, so far, has been technical rigor. Where are the computer simulations, mathematical proofs, and round table discussions between the best and brightest mathematical economists in the country, if not the world? This effort should be like our space program of the 1960s, a serious scientific and engineering undertaking.

However, ‘the North’ never did punish the southerners who took up arms against the Union. Grant was such a sniveling weasel that he did not require Lee to surrender his sword and horse! Then ‘reconstruction’ <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconstruction_era_of_the_United_States> gave way to ‘redemption’ <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redemption_(United_States_history) , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redeemers> through the ‘corrupt bargain’ <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrupt_Bargain> or ‘Compromise of 1877’!

So, when was the CSA brought to justice? Answer: NEVER!

After Lincoln’s assassination Andrew Johnson <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Johnson> became president and let the rebels go free.

Northern anger over the assassination of Lincoln and the immense human cost of the war led to demands for harsh policies. Vice President Andrew Johnson had taken a hard line and spoke of hanging rebel Confederates. His veto message objected to the measure because it conferred citizenship on the freedmen at a time when eleven out of thirty-six states were unrepresented and attempted to fix, by federal law, "a perfect equality of the white and black races in every State of the Union." Johnson said it was an invasion by federal authority of the rights of the states; it had no warrant in the Constitution and was contrary to all precedents. It was a "stride toward centralization and the concentration of all legislative power in the national government."[24] Johnson, in a letter to Gov. Thomas C. Fletcher of Missouri, wrote, "This is a country for white men, and by God, as long as I am President, it shall be a government for white men."

The Democratic Party, proclaiming itself the party of white men, North and South, aligned with Johnson.[26] However, the Republicans in Congress overrode his veto (the Senate by the vote of 35:19, the House by 126:47) and the Civil Rights measure became law.

One of Johnson's last significant acts was granting unconditional amnesty to all Confederates on Christmas Day, December 25, 1868, after the election of Ulysses S. Grant to succeed him, but before Grant took office in March 1869. Earlier amnesties, requiring signed oaths and excluding certain classes of people, had been issued by Lincoln and by Johnson.

We are two cultures in one geo-political entity, let’s say a: scientific rationalist materialist (liberal) culture and religious social (conservative) colonialist culture. We have only our history in common and there is nothing important in that, that we can agree on (except to continue to disagree). Liberals base their understanding of the world on scientific observation and logical proof. Conservatives base theirs on religious faith and ‘common sense’. Liberals are idealist, who assert that man and the world is perfectible. Conservatives hold to the notion that all men are born corrupted (‘born in sin’) and that the world is a natural horror to be dominated by men (and their god). Liberals want to use technology to elevate our understanding of ourselves and the cosmos. Conservatives want to use technology ‘to make money’. (Conservatives want to use the whole world to make money!) Liberals are creators. Conservatives are destroyers. (They ARE destroying the whole to make money! Wonder what they think they’re going to do with the money once the whole world is turned into a radioactive industrial trash heap?) Liberals and conservatives have no grounds of agreement and there is no reason for either to compromise their ideals.

The attack on the federal government by the conservatives represents the ongoing attempt of the CSA (or what’s left of it) to destroy the Union and free the southern states to return to ‘the old ways’. Secret wars, illegal wars (e.g., Iraq), military spending deficits on secret mil-toys (which are crap and will never see the light of day), Wall Street insider trading fraud, bank credit fraud, and mortgage broker frauds, police intimidation, racial profiling, illegal surveillance on US citizens, and undue use of police force against blacks are all parts of a whole to subvert our country’s ideals (see <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Declaration_of_Independence>) and take us back to corporate colonies <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonial_America#Virginia>.

The goals of the conservatives are just two:

(A) plunge the country into debt (which was accomplished by W) and

(B) eliminate the federal government leaving only the CSA dominated military-intelligence-corporate-complex in charge.

Mostly what you’ll see carrying out this process is business suited cotton mouths, but lest you forget, the New CSA is also armed to teeth and read to strike at any time! Their armed groups are now formed into hundreds of militias, gun clubs, training facilities, and loose organizations of thousands of battle hardened conservative men who have returned from our foreign wars from Viet Nam to Afghanistan (as well as ‘secret wars’ throughout Central and South America).

Thus, there’s no reason to celebrate or commemorate The Civil War next Tuesday, since you’re still in it! When it is over, the Chinese will pick over the bones and wonder why amerika went so stupid so fast. What they won’t know (unless they’ve read this blog) is: it wasn’t fast!

Our krapitalists (just as the Japanese’) are going to lie about the safety of our nukes just like they’ve lied about the decade long folly of George W. Bush, the Greenspan economic fraud, and the effects of the nuclear tests in the Pacific Ocean since the 1950s. There is no way either the government or the corporations (let’s just call them GOVCORP for short, since they are really just one thing) will ever be ‘straight’ with us about the state of their reactors or how they would fare in a Sendai scenario.

We, the general public, are on our own!

Nuclear reactors are INHERENTLY dangerous and I assure you, amerikan reactors are no better than their Japanese counterparts, no matter what anybody in GOVCORP has to say about it! If they want to make such an assertion, let them PROVE it, as opposed to just asking us to trust them (again).

I highly recommend that everyone that can, leave the areas around nuclear reactors on the west coast if not leave the west coast altogether. Fallout from the Japanese reactors will reach the west coast of amerika and GOVCORP will never give you a straight assessment of the dangers associated with this. Now, I am not suggesting a mass stampede off the coast, but an orderly movement out. (I have no real estate interest on the w. coast.)

Information is key! Make social connections with researchers and workers in the various university geology and nuclear engineering departments. Hold community meetings with these people on a regular basis and discuss evacuation plans and various earthquake damage and meltdown scenarios. Cancel any long-term financial commitments that would tie you to the west coast.

I am also calling for a ban on any further nuclear reactor contracts or construction in the

U.S.

without stringent license approval procedures. In the future, any organization that would seek a license to construct a reactor must first construct a full scale working reactor based on the design they wish to implement and then MELT IT DOWN so that its meltdown characteristics can be observed and the meltdown containment methods studied. For this, GOVCORP (as if it would) should set aside a ‘nuclear reactor test range’ in the desert just like they did for nuclear weapons testing in the 50s and the 60s. The testing should be performed underground just like all future nuclear reactors should be constructed.

Mubarak warned yesterday of what would happen today when he said he would die on Egyptian land. What he meant was that he will fight to hold on to nothing. He will destroy his country to stay in power. His brutal stupidity will bring the Muslim Brotherhood to power as the only alternative! Egypt is no longer a functioning country. Egypt is at war!

With this, we have now seen the success of Amerikan ‘Middle East’ policy: A BIG FAT FAILURE!

Why And How Right Wing Conservatives & Republicans ARE Responsible for Gabrielle Giffords’ Shooting and Christina Greene’s Murder

This posting is in part a response to Chris Plante’s challenge to liberals to come up with an explanation as to how conservatives are responsible for the shooting of 18 people in Stucksohn (or, Tucson as it’s been called) last week.

The facts: Jared Lee Loughner shot 18 people on January 8, 2011 with a Glock 19 pistol and two 30 round magazines and two standard mags (15 rounds apiece)…around 91 bullets.

Now as right-wingers are always happy to tell ya: liberals DON’T support ‘GUN RIGHTS’! So right they are! We liberals don’t support, so called, ‘gun rights’ and I, for one, don’t even believe in the existence of such a right for every man, woman, and child to run around wild in the street armed to the teeth. I do believe that completely deregulated ‘gun rights’ are a notion that springs from the minds of right wingers and conservatives when they read edited versions of the Constitution in Congress. On this matter, the Constitution, as passed by the Congress says:

Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

That’s it! The ‘right to bear arms’ is obviously only for the organization of well regulated militias, not every crazy right-wing weekend warrior club or lone ‘nut case’.

So, you can well understand how, if liberals had had complete and unfettered control of the government for, say, the last 30 years, the right to bear arms would have been drastically limited by lots and lots of restrictions. Loughner would never have been able to purchase anything like a Glock 19, or anything else, after the investigation he’d have been subjected to under ‘liberals’ gun laws’.

It is ONLY due to the gun laws that Right Wing conservatives + the NRA + the Republicans have bitterly fought for decades to maintain, that Loughner could have bought the gun, the clips, and the ammo he did in order to kill little Christina Green

and 17 other people.

HEY SARAH, THIS ONE’S ALL YOURS!

Let’s look at this a bit further. We’d probably all agree that Loughner was, in short, a ‘nut case’. Where we’d probably disagree is whether nut cases are responsible for what they do. If someone’s a nut case, then their perceptions are probably wildly discrepant from everybody else’s and their actions, following their perceptions, also ‘out of sync’. What I’ve found missing from the thoughts of those I’ve had to deal with is, a rational bridge between their misperceptions and their actions. Is someone like this really responsible for their actions? If punished by society, do they really get why?

Now, I’m not saying that if a nut case kills somebody they shouldn’t be removed from society (one way or another), just like a big cat that kills somebody. However, the cat has a defense: “I have to kill to eat and I have to eat to live and the human was just in the right place at the right time.” (Something like Sarah Palin’s: “we eat, therefore we hunt”.) And, this is just what the irrational person does not have, unless you can accept something like: “I’m insane and I must kill to make sense of the world as I find it.” I don’t accept such an assertion. You probably don’t. And the courts certainly don’t. However, having no defense, can (or better yet, should) someone irrational be held legally responsible for their actions? Most courts rightly think not. That’s why there’s an insanity plea. And, after enough doctors back up the plea, you’re whisked away for a healthy stay, in the ‘looney bin’. Justice served!

This is the only way it could be in a society ruled by LAW. Else wise, anybody (e.g., Glenn Beck) could set up any criterion for being held legally responsible. Even a nut case like Loughner could, with enough well armed backers! But then what would we have? The rule of the criminally insane?

So, if you eliminate Loughner from consideration, who do you have left to be held responsible? Who has a rational for such actions? The CRIMINALLY INSANE RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN TEABAG PARTY!! And what is their rationale?

Once we had hope for a change. For once, we on the left, had someone to vote for, rather than a field of cabbages to vote against. For a moment, we had hope. For a moment…it seemed that we could…have rational and fair domestic governance and a balanced approach to international affairs. I thought one man would usher in a new age of science and reason and compassion. I (in my secret heart of hearts) hoped that we might have had, at least, one last chance to pull back from the abyss that is the legacy of Nixon-Reagan-Bush (and, of lesser consideration, Clinton).

I (we) put all our hope for this change on one person: Barack Hussein Obama II. But we were to be brutalized and raped (yet again) like some virgin whore, pimped out to every two faced pol pulling up in a big black Cadillac looking for that sweet sweet candy lick. Oh yeah, Obama (now prez0) told us one thing, but if you looked carefully at who he brought to the party, you could have known what was going to happen next. Yeah, it was 'the best and the brightest' (again): Tax dodging Timmy, Larry (the hitman) Summers, Benny Bernanke, and some goddamed republican: Gates! WTF??????????

National Suicide

Tomorrow begins the suicide of what could have been a great nation. A nation gifted with the wealth of European intellectualism that could have taken us to the stars. A nation that could have repaired the effects of the great crimes upon which it was founded (i.e., the genocide of the native American, the enslavement of black Americans, and the wanton rape of the environment) with the vast wealth generated by its farms and factories and mines and accumulated by its rich and powerful. Tomorrow though, lower and middle class white Americans will begin the process of bringing the corrupt and powerful back into complete control of all branches of the American government. The party of the American right wing, the republican party, the party of corrupt and powerful Americans, will continue its efforts to establish, for all time, an aristocracy whose quality of life is so far removed from that of Americans who must work to survive that its operative nature will not even be understandable( in the next few decades) by those not of their class.

However, none of this is a surprise as what it represents is the colonial imperative at the heart of our society. To understand where we are going, one need only study the colonial period before ‘these united states’ were born. There existed, then, an aristocracy whose level of education and understanding and longevity far exceeded that of the peasantry that tended their lands and lived in such brutish conditions as were those of post Roman Europe. This ‘existential gap’ continued through the formation of ‘these united states’ and on through the civil war with brought about the formation of ‘The United States’ and the rise of the robber baron nation whose existence was founded on the wage slavery of factory and mine workers imported from impoverished parts of Europe in the late 18^th to early 20^th century. Again, the difference between the conditions of existence for the top 5% of ‘americans’ and the rest was that of a century or more due to the fact that the top 5% had access to electricity and running indoor water at least 50 years before the lower 95%. Essentially, the wealthy lived in light while the workers huddled in the dark of factories, mines, and hovels.

We can see this happening again, now, as the wealth of the lower 95% plummets while the wealth of the upper 5% accelerates to unheard of levels. With this comes the bifurcation of services and education and all other aspects of existence. Since American has divested itself of the ‘smokestack industries’ that once offered the hope of lifting the children of the lower and lower middle classes out of their condition, it has essentially divested itself of this class of people. They are now free, to do…whatever. Only for a narrow moment from about 1950 to 1980 did the wealth gap close. This, as may be easily understood, was the peak of our civilization where we put a man on the moon. Then in the age of Reagan (the golden age for most republicans) the beginning of the opening of the wealth gap started with ‘union busting’, corporate deregulation, and industrial ‘off-shoring’. (These all go hand-in-hand as deregulation allowed—no, encouraged—corporations to de-unionize and then move their jobs to the pools of the lowest wage earners capable of doing the jobs.) With this, the earnings of the wealthy started its long ramp upward while the wages of the American worker stagnated or fell. This continued to the point of the current collapse of the American economy due to massive off-shoring and even more corporate deregulation (sadly, under the democratic party). During this time, rich Americans diversified their land holdings and investments in such a fashion as to sever their connection with the lower American classes. That is to say, the top 5% of American live all over the better parts of the world and have investments all over the world. So whatever fate America has as it’s future, will not be their fate. We workers and former workers have been left behind.

Now, lower and middle class white America votes to bring The Party of Reagan back into power! This time, though, they bring them back with a crazy and violent mob party that started off calling itself the Tea Bag Party or Tea Baggers, until they found out what ‘tea bagging’ actually meant. This again, is not surprising as mob violence is always a close associate of conservative political behavior from lynchings to public school blockades to anti-abortion attacks on clinics to storming vote counting activities to stomping opposition protesters. Lower and middle class white America is angry and they want to hurt somebody in order to ease the pain of their own destruction. They will do it the way they have always done it. Hurt the black man, the Latino, and then themselves! The party that is most well established in doing this is the republican party, an amalgamation of the former Dixiecrat Party and the white businessman’s party. (Negros can enter through the rear.)

After tomorrow repubs will control the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court. They may even control the Senate. President O will be marginalized, along with most of the rest of his unemployed black brothers, and pointed to the door. The legislative process will breakdown and the Krazy Kraker Koalition (formerly the Kraker Klowne Koaliton) will attempt to destroy the civilian federal government and turn federal governance of the country over to the military-intelligence-police-prison corporations. The rest of the power will go to KKK state governance. In another two years, President O will probably be unemployed. (He’ll, of course, get the biggest unemployment check of all his brothers.)

This will essentially be the end of ‘The United States’. After losing all of the wars it’s currently engaged in, ‘The United States’ will return to being ‘These United States’ and then back to a set of mostly agricultural colonies run by the children of the top 5% who like to play with their slaves in the dirt. When they are finished, the land (or what’s left of it) will return to the Native American. China will be world ruler and perhaps the ruler of the inner solar system.

So let’s all go out and vote tomorrow! Kool-Aid will be served!

Why Fire Juan Williams?

As we all know, NPR fired Juan Williams because he violated the terms of his contract, i.e. keeping his personal views to himself and his god

Vivian Schiller (of NPR), ‘told an audience at the Atlanta Press Club that Williams should have kept his feelings about Muslims between himself and "his psychiatrist or his publicist."’ (Of course, the liberal wimp later recanted: "I spoke hastily and I apologize to Juan and others for my thoughtless remark.") (Why are all liberals--except for me--such little puss-puss wimps? MAN-UP you little wimps! stand your ground against these ignorant retrogressive republicans, tea baggers, and the KKK!)

Anyway, there is a better reason to fire Juan Williams: Juan Williams is a dumbass! talk back...like an egyptian

whew...just back from egypt! what a place to visit! i love the desert, so i'd almost love to live there. i found out that i can take the heat. it was 108F in the shade in the 'valley of the kings'. burn baby burn! it's nice and cool down in the tombs and up in 'the great pyramid', but the air is so 'close' you really get a sense of what it was like to be buried alive! (at least in the first few moments...before the torches went out!)

taking the train up the nile from aswan and luxor to cairo, you really get to see life in the country side. no euro-american would make it a day 'out there'. even in the small towns you see along the way. so back to the city driver!

now the big downside to egyptian city life, on the street, is: there're no emission controls on most cars! the air in cairo is almost unbreathable at the traffic peaks (which seems to be almost all of the time). (get me back to the tombs! or the 34th floor of the grand hyatt!) on the other hand, alexandria is much better, due to the sea breeze. the skyline in alexandria is incomparable. imagine manhattan with a beach! standing on the beach, is to be enveloped by a great cultural enclave going around a huge bay. too much to see. too much to buy.

now, of course, the sea side apartments making up that skyline are somewhat 'funky' when you get up close, but hey...you can't have everything! they're really cheap with respect to, say, manhattan or alexandria virginia rents or prices. however, all the apts have a/c, a great view, and satellite. (bathrooms are so so...) so, even by 'american standards', alexandria is quite livable. (if i ever get any money, i'll be blogging from there.)

cairo, on the other hand, is the big city! rough and gritty little kitty. brash and in your face. (try out the night scene around the central train station or off on some of the side streets leading away from the main avenue that takes you to the pyramids!)

luxor has the same vibe (on a smaller scale). get out of the sheraton and checkout 'downtown'--i.e., the souks. i ended up following some 'salesman' out of a back door, through some really narrow back alleys, through a door and into a real egyptian 'mall' (intense). just like some of the first malls in the u.s. back in the early sixties. (of course, no a/c!) they're making it though. they'll be just as modern as we are now, in a few decades, if left alone.

unlike us (?), though, almost everyone is bribe-able! that is, every official and any corporate type and most guys on the street. a lock on something just means: give me baksheesh man! want a tour of that nuclear power plant with the lock on the gate? no problem man: baksheesh! want to stay in the great pyramid overnite? how much? want to jump in the front of the line? just make sure the guy at the window has been paid off. essentially nothing is really 'forbidden' if you have enough money. now...how like us it that?

this leads to the question of how do you like your corruption? democratized or just for the elite? in america, corruption (or the cost of corruption) is simply built into everything. all the price fixing, misrepresentation, handouts, and deals are done before you ever see the product! you--the little guy--just get a price. take it or leave it! the rich elite pocket the difference between what something 'really costs' and what you pay for it. (they also pocket the difference between what they pay you to make something--IF YOU'RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A JOB WHERE THEY'RE PAYING YOU anything--and what they can sell it for!) ha: gotcha come'n & go'n! (FIRST LAW OF BUSINESS: NEVER GIVE A SUCKER AN EVEN BREAK!)

now, over there, nothing has a fixed price for anybody. every price can be bargained down. (imagine doing that in a nordstroms here!) actually did that in some shop that looked very much like 'the gap'. of course though, once back in the tourist enclaves, e.g., the luxor sofitel (very very nice, except for the location), NO DEAL. the deals have already been fixed for your convenience. (trust me, it's really really convenient not to have to go down in the souk and squabble over change--remember, an egyptian pound is worth about 1/5th of a u.s. dollar. but, on the other hand, i'm sure no rich euro-ameri trash pays the 'street price' to stay in the sofitel!)

all in all: egypt is a really inexpensive trip (in the 'off season'--our summer) if you get your airfare early. you can go ***** all they way. klm runs a tight ship with really great personnel who'll help you out of most of the mistakes you can make. they'll make all sorts of adjustments to your itinerary if they can (for a price...of course). a trip to egypt is much less than a trip to, say, big sur or france!

as far as all of the hustlers and drivers and souksters go, all you have to learn to do is: 'talk back...like an egyptian'!

A Tale of Two Films

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...when I first saw ‘2001 a Space Odyssey’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001:_A_Space_Odyssey_%28film%29). A king was about to fall and a nation tear itself apart in the culture war (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_war). But, between the nights of April 2, 1968 and April 3, 1968 those, who were lucky enough to gain admittance under the proper circumstances, were transfigured. I was too young to pass through the star gate, but I was there, having travelled across the city by myself. As I became aware that the sounds I was hearing, as we entered the ellipse of the Uptown’s auditorium, was some sort of music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligeti), I began to get the feeling in my gut that something was different here and something was going to ‘happen’. Something quite unlike the cheese S.F. films I had grown up with. Then, in the dark of the auditorium, I heard Also Sprach Zarathustra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Also_sprach_Zarathustra_%28Richard_Strauss%29) for the first time in my life, as the camera lifted from the dark side of the moon to reveal an alignment of the Moon, Earth, and Sun in brilliant C major. The veil was lifted from my eyes and the philosophy of my fathers died on the spot.

By the end of the film I was reduced to a dazed silence having no idea of what I had just seen and heard or what had just happened and why. I remember, a number of us got on the bus outside the Uptown. There was no conversation. Everyone was deep in thought. Then someone mentioned that they had read ‘The Sentinel’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sentinel_%28short_story%29) and told us the story. I had become a child again.

It was many weeks before I saw ‘2001’ again, and it was not the film I saw the night after the premier. I later found out about the cuts and was crushed. I realized that I had seen the best film I had ever seen (I hadn’t seen much of the European or avant garde cinema at the time, having just become a teenager) and would never see it, whole, again. This was my greatest heartbreak until I watched America fumble the manned space program many years later. Little more than a year later we stepped out onto the moon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_landing) and truly entered ‘The Space Age’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Age), the age in which I became a man.

I mark, as I might, given it’s personal significance, The Space Age as the high point of American civilization. Kubrick had given us a vision of how it could be and what we could become out amongst the stars. Wernher von Braun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_von_Braun) had given us the means to step off this planet and move onto higher ground. Yet, it was not to be. We reverted to the animalistic ways of the retrogressive culture within our society and spent the money that would have elevated us on wars of idealism waged with the religious fanaticism of those who have nothing to live for but their warped beliefs in a heavenly reward for a life without 'sin'.

We spent trillions on wars against the communists who would have taken over the whole world; the hippies and dopers who wouldn’t die for their country; the queers who slaver around in the filth of their nightly assignations; and the Islamists who would take over what’s left of the world. We created an out of control military-industrial-intelligence complex (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military-industrial_complex , http://projects.washingtonpost.com/top-secret-america/) that couldn’t stop one young man with inflammable underwear from getting on a plane and burning himself up. We’ve fouled our air and our waters and allowed our educational and medical systems to fall into almost complete dysfunction! We have allowed our corporations to move almost all of their manufacturing and technical jobs overseas to cheaper labor pools causing massive permanent un- and underemployment, thus wiping out ‘the middle class’. We have allowed our financial and banking institutions to become centers of fraud and corruptions of every sort and then bailed them out with taxpayer dollars when they collapsed under the weight of their fraudulent repackaging of sham mortgage loans, thus causing a world wide economic collapse.

The space age world of my youth is now long dead. For today’s youth the space age is ancient history sometime before the great war of 911. The world that has replaced the world of my youth is a financially spent world of cynical liars who have turned ignorance and stupidity into virtues and institutionalized technical wizardry into nerdiness. Corrupt politicians in the pockets of corrupt businessmen who sell health and justice right along with Viagra and Coke Zero. A world where it is cool, in some circles, to wear your pants down below your ass and revel in a music that glorifies sexual violence and killing each other over a rock of crack cocaine. As those, below; so those above. A world where The Right news is taught to the faithful on the Fux News Nutwork by fat jolly white fellers who know black in the white house just ‘ain’t riight’!

Crapitalism has triumphed over Clownmunism and the world that is left branded is that, so wickedly depicted, in 'Idiocracy' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy)! As the great wiki puts it:

“…natural selection has become indifferent toward intelligence, so that in a society in which intelligence is systematically debased, stupid people easily out-breed the intelligent, creating, over the course of five centuries, an irredeemably dysfunctional society. Consequently, the children of the educated elites are drowned in a sea of sexually promiscuous, illiterate, alcoholic, ADHD, degenerate peers.”

Sound familiar? I first saw this on cable coming in during the middle of the film and wondered: WTF? But, after a while I got into it and nearly busted ‘my Balls!’ Every scene is a scream! Easily as funny as ‘Dr. Strangelove’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Strangelove). The main problem with this film is that it was too conservative in trying to maintain its verisimilitude. Five centuries? How about five decades of republicanism! In ‘Idiocracy’, the people still wear their pants up over their assess, although ‘Ass’ is the biggest hit on the big screen at the time depicted in the film. As Not Sure’s doctor puts it, just as Not Sure sees just where he is:

“Right, kick ass. Well, don't want to sound like a dick or nothin', but, ah... it says on your chart that you're fucked up. Ah, you talk like a fag, and your shit's all retarded. What I'd do, is just like... like... you know, like, you know what I mean, like...”

and

“Don't worry, scrote. There are plenty of 'tards out there living really kick-ass lives. My first wife was 'tarded. She's a pilot now.”

Yeah…well…you know: welcome to your future. A long way down from ‘2001’. Remember, the apes in ‘2001’ were on their way to The Space Age. The ‘tards’ are on their way back to The Stone Age. i have to admit i’m somewhat taken by surprise. i knew all of the above was true. but to have the truth completely stripped naked (like hypatia—see agora!) in just two weeks! wow! (or should i say: ouch!)

we must do some things, fast, that make a difference and set a new ‘tone’.

first, we need to ban bp from operating in u.s. waters until they present a complete environmental plan for their operations and demonstrate well blowout handling capability at 5,000 feet below on a full scale rig using equipment whose manufacture and testing is monitored at all stages by noaa and epa personnel.

second, we need to end the afghan war now, not next summer! we’ve done all we can do there. third, we need to raise taxes on people making more than $600,000/yr to roughly 80%, eliminate the wage cap on social security deductions, and replace the existing power grid with a government (i.e., public) owned and operated solar power grid (i.e., the PSPG). (corporations need not apply.)

fourth, we need to clamp down hard on banks by regulating every move they make. any banks stepping out of line get nationalized. (essentially, the government should take over banking!)

I, for one, will not forget Robert Byrd. White hair in the well of filibuster!

I will not forget how long the Democratic Party allowed this person to dominate its politics. I will not forget how long they papered over his past. I will not forget how long they papered over his ‘pork’. I will not forget how they allowed a cheap political opportunist, with a paperback constitution in his back pocket, to jump into the spotlight and stay there!

During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan." He said he had joined the Klan because he felt it offered excitement and was anti-communist.[10]

In 1997, Byrd told an interviewer he would encourage young people to become involved in politics but also: "Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don't get that albatross around your neck. Once you've made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena."[20] In his last autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a KKK member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions."[21] Byrd also said, in 2005,

What President Obama Should Say About the BP Oil Catastrophe Tonight

This oil spill is a greed made catastrophe due to one corporation cutting corners and costs to make the biggest profit they could out of an experimental drilling effort. This along with the complete corruption of the MMS under the Republicans produced a perfect storm of ignorance and stupidity on the part of all voting Americans that put two Texas cowboy oilmen into the White House for eight years! There is pretty much nothing anybody can do about this now because it involves forces beyond our capabilities to handle at the moment. The president must show that new science is coming out of this and that new engineering will follow the science. Here’s what he should propose as actions to take:

(1) Maintain the moratorium of deep ocean drilling until the U.S. puts in place an agency that can inspect and direct the operations of all oil companies working in U.S. waters at all times. Further, this agency must generate and maintain a technical team to operate and evolve technologies to control spills.

(2) The U.S. must go solar in a major way and to do this we should (a) place a major tax on oil use and production and profits, (b) cover every mall parking lot and every mall roof in this country with solar cells which will produce shade for mall patrons at the same time it produces power for use, (c) build a national government controlled solar power grid to replace the early 20th century power grid that companies like Enron use as their private piggy banks, and (d) force the auto industry into making the most efficient hybrids possible with today’s technology.

(3) Completely bar any possibility of drilling in the arctic wildlife refuges forever.

(4) Maintain a moratorium on all nuclear power activities until the U.S. has an agency that can inspect and direct the operations of all nuclear power companies working in U.S. at all times. Further, this agency must generate and maintain a technical team to operate and evolve technologies to nuclear waste spills.

This will be a good start to move us into a rational energy use culture for the future.

Tough Ecological Love

The people you are calling for in your hour of need were the idealists of the late 1960s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippie , http://www.hippy.com/hippyway.htm) who advised all of us to: drop out (of the crapitalist bizshit), turn on (the natural mind), and tune in (to what’s really happening). The idealists, who counseled us to “make love, not war”. The idealists, who grocked the nature of the crapitalist industrialism that they grew up in. They called for us all to ‘return to the land’ and adopt an ecological communalism centered around the ‘expansion of consciousness’.

Now, you can imagine how all of this was received by conservative white Amerika (CWA) and other ‘establishment types’ all over the world. The idealists were set upon with a savagery well known to those who had taken a gentler approach to the earth (as mother) for generations before the acquisitive entrepreneurialists arrived on these shores. They are all now removed from view, having faded into the background of the culture, and taken to looking like everyone else. (Safer that way.)

This is the point where I became aware of the depths of corporate indifference and the stupidity of local government! I came to understand in the late 1970s that we live in a sump pit of greed, ignorance, intolerance, public relations (PR), and just plain downright orneriness!

And what did we all expect from big biz PR? Some (including me) expected a leap into space and a great expansion of amerikan know-how outward into the (obviously empty and ready for our use) galaxy forever! Solution For Stopping The BP Gulf Oil Spill of Spring 2010

Dear readers, I believe I have discovered a solution to stop the oil spill caused by the collapse of the BP oil rig. The solution is complex and expensive, but very probably doable. I breaks down into three parts (no pun intended):

(A) FREEZE THE CRUDE – As I’ve recently learned, oil can’t be frozen solid because it consists of many individual compounds that solidify at different temperatures. However, oil can be chilled into a gelatinous material. (Let’s call it ‘Jell-O’.) My supposition is that once the crude is ‘frozen’ into Jell-O, it can be controlled more easily than it could be in a liquid form. Now, the crude may be frozen by lowering the ambient temperature of the water. I don’t have access to the precise data to know what that temperature would be at 5000ft below the ocean surface. I also don’t know what the ambient ocean temperature would be at that depth. But, I’m guessing that there is not much difference between the ambient temperature of the water at that depth and the temperature required to form a Jell-O of crude at that depth. This conjecture is based on hearing about the hydrocarbon crystal formation which prevented the containment caissons from being used.

To ‘freeze’ the crude will require the construction of refrigeration units able to operate in the pressures 5000ft below the ocean surface. The size and number of such units placed in the vicinity of the leaks depends how on fast it is decided to do the job. The power source for the refrigeration units could easily be nuclear submarines outfitted with cables properly insulated to deliver the power to insulated junctions on the refrigeration units. The number of subs required would depend on how many refrigeration units were used. A ‘refrigeration dome’ will have to be placed over the leaks in order to slow the escape of the cooled water. However, since it is not the purpose of refrigeration domes to contain the leak, they do not have to have the structural integrity of containment domes or caissons. The size of the support crew and the number of supporting submersibles also depends on the required speed of the operation's execution.

(B) CONTROL THE FROZEN CRUDE – Once the crude has been frozen into a ‘Jell-O’ it will need to be moved into some sort of containment structure. Such a structure could be manufactured or geological. Since this structure would not be created to contain liquid crude, it could have less structural integrity than a container designed to contain liquids. Alternatively, the container could be some deep crevasse in the ocean floor close enough to the leaks to move the Jell-O into. The way to move the Jell-O is to create precision controlled currents. This can be accomplished by using the prop wash from a fleet of submersibles or submarines to direct the Jell-O to an appropriate place. Of, course there’ll be no opportunity to practice this, so the whole operation must be precisely planned with the aid of computer modeling and simulations. Manufactured ‘Jell-O containers’ should be obvious. Finding a geological formation to contain the Jell-O would be more of an interesting problem.

(C) LIFTING THE JELL-O – Once contained, the Jell-O needs to be transported away from the containment cite or facilities. This could be accomplished by lowering a six or seven thousand foot long hose of the appropriate diameter from the surface to suction lift the Jell-O. These hoses would also have to maintain the appropriate temperature to keep the crude in a gelatinous state in order to separate it from the sea water sucked up with it. Tankers would have to be leased to form a conveyor to move the oil from the spill cite to facilities designated to handle the crude.

Now, of course, freezing the crude, moving the Jell-O, lifting the Jell-O and transporting it away would all have to be choreographed as one giant conveyor which would run until the crude deposit is exhausted or the escape pressure falls to some magnitude that allows the leaks to be plugged or the relief well is completed and operational. Thus, the operation could possibly run for more than a year.

Further, it must be understood that this ‘solution’ will do nothing for the oil that has already mixed into the ocean and it could cost billions to execute. Minus some technical and engineering details (that I’d be happy to handle for the appropriate fee), it comes down to a political judgment of whether the northern gulf and the southern coasts of the U.S. are worth it. Are they?

now i'm not a conspiracy theorist, but i am seeing a reagan-clinton-bush-obama conservative continuum. and while the political party in the WH might change, the Fall St. crowd continues to party on (unregulated). its pretty obvious that the conservatives have gotten all they ever wanted economically: a vast gap in wealth, virtually no taxes for the rich, unregulated fraud markets, a never ending war generating huge profits, and taxpayer bailout bonuses to boot! (you see, despite what your mom might have taught you, crime does pay!)

so, as we fall, let us remember: Ayn Rand, the sophist soul of 20th century laissez-faire conservative economic BS and Brooksley Born, who could have started the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on the path to undoing what Rand's influence ultimately brought us to. perhaps, if we somehow get smarter, we'll allow Born to regulate Rand!

the problem with a lot of law (particularly that which i deal with on a daily basis) is that it never defines key terms in a rigorous manner, like say, in mathematics. in the case of the az law, they don't define what it is to 'look like' you are an illegal immigrant! and yet, the law demands that the cops stop you to check your papers (pleeze!) if you don't look legal! how stupid can az law makers be??????
